How to Live Stream on a Facebook Event?

Live streaming on a Facebook Event lets you reach your audience directly, boost engagement, and share live or pre-recorded videos, all while tracking performance with built-in analytics.

Facebook will now automatically remove your Livestreams from their storage after 30 days. Updated Policy

To go live on a Facebook Event, follow these steps.

Create a Facebook Live Event

  • Visit www.facebook.com/live/producer/

  • From the left-hand sidebar, select where you would like to go live, and the selected Facebook profile, page, or group will be the host of the Facebook event.

  • Click on Create live video event > Create Event in Facebook Live Producer.

  • In the left-hand sidebar, enter event details including Event name, date & time, privacy and description.

  • Click on Next.

  • In the left-hand column, click on Settings > Stream.

  • Copy the persistent stream key from the right-side window.

  • Click on Create Event.

  • Click on Set up Live Video.

  • In the left-hand sidebar, make sure that the Complete post details check box is green.

  • Scroll down and toggle on Go Live automatically at the scheduled start time.

  • Click on Save changes.

Connecting Facebook via Custom RTMP

  • Log in to the OneStream Live dashboard.

  • From the left sidebar, click Social Platforms.

  • Click Add Platform.

  • Select Custom RTMP.

  • Assign a name to your Custom RTMP social account & choose Facebook as the platform.

  • Paste the Persistent stream key copied from the Facebook Event.

  • Click Connect.

  • Once the Custom RTMP account is connected, schedule pre-recorded videos or go live in real time on that Custom RTMP social account via OneStream Live.

  • The stream will automatically go live on the Facebook event at the set date & time.

Schedule your OneStream stream 1 minute after the Facebook event time (e.g., 10:01 for a 10:00 Facebook stream) to prevent cut-offs from clock differences.
